McNamara Insurance Agency, Inc. has been family-owned and operated since 1946. John B. Yuill (Bob Jr.’s grandfather) purchased the John D. Hamilton Agency, which was established in 1904.
Robert P. McNamara (Bob Jr.’s dad) purchased the agency in 1969. “Big Mac” procured accounts through community involvement, quality service and agency acquisitions. The agency acquisitions that may be remembered were: The Williams Agency, Hutchin’s Insurance Agency, N.M.I. Agency, Orem B. Mero Agency and The Crosby Agency (Mike Crosby). Bob Sr.’s wide base of insurance knowledge became invaluable to clients during the exponential growth years of the 1970’s in Gaylord.
Robert M. McNamara (Bob Jr.) began his insurance career in 1982. He subsequently purchased a majority interest in 1992 and has remained the principal owner for the past 27 years. Bob specializes in large commercial accounts. He is also actively involved in agency/company relations. The strength of our agency is directly correlated to the financial strength of the companies we represent.
Calvin McNamara is the 4th generation of family ownership for McNamara Insurance Agency. Joining the agency in June of 2015, he brings a wealth of insurance experience following seven years as an Excess and Surplus Lines Broker with J.M. Wilson.
Much of the success of the agency has been the result of the arrival of Dave Hintz in 1989. Dave (Bob Jr.’s brother-in-law) is highly regarded among his clients as a thorough and detailed agent. Dave acquired his share of agency ownership in 1997. He is the agency expert in life products as well as commercial property and casualty accounts.
McNamara Insurance Agency’s staff of customer service representatives have over 58 years of experience with the agency. Donna Makowski and Sherry Birk are fully-licensed and formally trained in all aspects of customer service. They truly are tremendous assets to the operation of the McNamara Insurance Agency.
